100% On Location: Husk

Husk is one of those places that needs little introduction at this point. The restaurant is only in its fourth year but feels like it's weathered phases of Nashville that long pre-date its arrival. Perhaps it's because chef Sean Brock's menu is an ever-changing, historically accurate and seasonally appropriate homage to all types of southern cooking, both modern and antique. Humble southern staples like grits and simple vegetables get the prestige they've always deserved, while the dining experience feels genuine and generous.

The Wine Love

I wonder how many winemakers sent Valentine's Day cards to their grapes, because making wine is absolutely a labor of love. For those winemakers not running a large-scale, factory-farm wine operation, oftentimes riches come in the form of a nourished soil instead of a padded bank account.

Highlights from our Savio Soares Tradeshow

The end of the year is a very stressful and exciting time for us in the industry. Holiday orders abound, and the extra weight of the cases turns our trademark delivery van into such a lowrider that people start speaking Spanish to our driver Lee! 100% On Location: Urban Cowboy

Nestled atop a hill at the corner of Woodland and 16th, you may find the hint of smoke in the air. Behind the impeccably designed and renovated Victorian mansion that houses the B&B, the Public House at Urban Cowboy beckons you with the promise of fire, both to warm your bones and cook your dinner. Since opening about one year ago, it's helped cement Nashville's status as a city of artists and tastemakers. If there's one thing that can rival the warm aromas and rustic charm of East Nashville, however, it's the glowing peaks of Southern France.

Many companies make Panettone, but Bonifanti makes a real masterpiece. Using all natural, rare and precious ingredients, these artisinal pastries are a staple of the Italian holiday season. Starting with their nearly 100-year-old mother yeast, Bonifanti handcrafts these with Madagascar vanilla beans, fruits at the peak of ripeness, and legendary Italian hazelnuts. The flavors are truly unique.

100% Fifi

"Some people do enjoy these wines; some other people don't. It can take a while to understand these wines; it took me a year. I got converted. Now it's our duty to explain to people why we chose these kinds of wine, and that diversity is the key. There are hundreds of varietals. You can have a favorite but be ready to explore"

The Pastoral Wines of Derek Trowbridge

This month we're celebrating the arrival of the newest American winemaker in our portfolio, a "pastoral winemaker" by the name of Derek Trowbridge who vinifies minimally affected wines from biodynamically grown grapes in Russian River Valley. His label Old World Winery takes us further from the claim of being 100% Italian wine, yet moves us closer to our goal of providing Nashville with a portfolio of wines that are 100% sustainably farmed and minimally processed, what the market has deemed "natural wine." That term, however, is one that many producers avoid, Derek included.
