Highlights from our Savio Soares Tradeshow
The end of the year is a very stressful and exciting time for us in the industry. Holiday orders abound, and the extra weight of the cases turns our trademark delivery van into such a lowrider that people start speaking Spanish to our driver Lee! One of the most exciting parts of the holidays is hosting trade shows, and this year we decided to exclusively highlight one of our favorite importers.
Savio Soares has steadily grown into the cachet of importers who's name alone inspires trust in the bottle in one's hand. Much like Kermit Lynch or Louis Dressner, you can always expect a Savio wine to be well executed and true-to-style. We also love Savio wines because they're committed to small production and ethical farming practices.
Savio was there of course, but the real treat was that he brought along famed Cornas winemaker Franck Balthazar. Franck's wines felt at home on the cozy and humble bar of Urban Cowboy's Bed and Breakfast, the precision of the space as consummate as the terroir expressed in three unique bottles of Cornas. Franck is lucky to work with century old grapes on the scorched slopes of the Northern Rhone, and his Cuvee Chaillot puts him in the league of greats.
The event was so much more than Syrah, however. We had everything from Champagne to Bordeaux with all the weirdos in the mix: Grolleau pet-nat, textured orange wine, earthy Cheverny, and buoyant Austrian blends. Savio's portfolio is truly exceptional. More important than the wines, however, were the people.
Thanks to all our industry friends who took the time to share these amazing wines with us, and a big thank you to everyone who helps us bring 100% Fine Wine to the people of Nashville! We can't do it without you, and we wish everyone the best as we tackle OND 2017. Let's do it!!
(and one more big thanks to our photographer, Frances Moor)
